Some travelers view boarding a plane as an essential part of their travel experience, while to others it is just a way of getting from A to B.
Unless you suffer from a fear of flying, taking to the skies should be a fun and exciting adventure. And the better the quality of the airline you choose, the more likely it is that you will have a pleasant flying experience.
But which airlines should you choose?
AirlineRatings.com has released its annual list of the world’s best airlines.
The Airline Excellence Awards are judged by five editors with over 180 years of combined experience in the travel industry.
12 key factors are taken into account when assessing the quality of an airline. These include the age of its fleet, passenger review scores, the range of product offerings, and staff relations.
Air New Zealand was chosen as the best airline for 2023 in the rankings, thanks to their “commitment to excellence in all facets of its business” but they weren’t the only airline to attract attention for all the right reasons, including some that are closer to home.
Here are 5 U.S airlines that were ranked among the best in the world:
Delta Airlines
Delta Airlines was awarded the ‘Excellence in Long Haul Travel’ award for their North American routes. They were also rated as one of the top 25 premium airlines worldwide.
Delta Airlines is America’s most-awarded airline, and it is regularly recognized for its commitment to excellence in areas such as fleet quality, passenger experience, and customer service.
Southwest Airlines
Southwest may not always have the best anecdotal reviews from its passengers, earning just a 1.8 score on Trustpilot.
But despite this, it was given the award for being the Best Low-Cost Airline in the Americas.
If you’re looking for a carrier that will safely get you from A to B at a low cost then AirlineRatings.com believe that Southwest Airlines is the best carrier to choose.
United Airlines
United Airlines was listed as one of the Top 25 Airlines in the World for 2023.
The criteria for being included in this list were that airlines must achieve a seven-star safety rating and demonstrate leadership in innovation for passenger comfort.
United exceeded in both categories, securing its place as a highly regarded airline whose name is recognized worldwide.
JetBlue
JetBlue is another entrant in the list of Top 25 Airlines in the World for 2023, combining excellence with affordability.
According to the Editor-in-Chief of the awards panel, Geoffrey Thomas, “We are focused on leadership and airlines that innovate to make a real difference to the passenger experience”.
Hawaiian
Although they did not secure an award for their highly regarded regional offerings, Hawaiian Air was listed as one of the Top 25 Airlines in the World for 2023.
There were more airlines from the U.S. on this list than from any other nation: a testament to the commitment to safety and customer experience across all U.S. airlines.
Other Winners From The Airline Excellence Awards
Other notable winners from the Airline Excellence Awards include:
- Singapore Airlines, who won the award for the Best First Class offering.
- Qatar Airlines won both Best Business Class for the fourth year in a row, as well as Best Catering.
- The airline with the Best Cabin Crew was Virgin Australia/Virgin Atlantic.
- The Best Regional Airline Was Air Baltic.
- Emirates was recognized for two awards: Best Premium Economy and Best In-Flight Entertainment.
- Vietjet was also recognized with two awards: Best Ultra Low-Cost Airline and Best Low-Cost Airline Onboard Hospitality.
As already mentioned, Air New Zealand was chosen as the Best Airline in the World for 2023. It was ranked number 1 because of the quality of its passenger service, the speed of its recovery from the pandemic, and not insignificantly, because of the incredible innovations it has introduced with beds for those in economy class seats.
