Earlier this week, JetBlue celebrated the launch of a new nonstop flight to a stunning Caribbean destination.

Travelers never get tired of beautiful sunny vacations to splurge on, especially this time of year. Winter has arrived as some seek snowy winter wonderlands, while others just want some Vitamin D and sand.

Mexico is one of the most popular sunny escapes for Americans, but there are great alternatives as well.

The Caribbean never seems to fail for a sun-drenched vacation. Travelers flock to vacation hotspots such as the Bahamas and Dominican Republic, but this gorgeous destination will fulfill all your vacation needs too.

New Direct Flight To Belize

JetBlue is now flying nonstop from New York City (JFK) to one of the prettiest destinations in Latin America.

Americans lead the way for Belize’s tourism industry, with roughly one million tourists traveling here annually.

While JetBlue is not the only option from JFK, it may be the best for your schedule. United flies only on weekends, so unless you want to stay for just a day or a weeklong trip solely based on United’s schedule, then JetBlue sounds better for you.

The new route launched this week with nonstop flights served on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday (the only day intersecting with United).

The airline’s choice of aircraft for this route is a commonly used Airbus A320 with award-winning service, plentiful legroom, fast Wi-Fi, and complimentary snacks and refreshments.

Passengers will take off from JFK at 9:10 a.m. and arrive at 12:46 p.m. in Belize City, an excellent gateway to paradise.

To celebrate, JetBlue is offering promotional one-way fares as low as $119 for a limited time.

Astounding Nature

So, you’ve arrived in paradise. Now, what to do? Belize, which neighbors Mexico, is a great alternative for a beach vacation compared to Mexico’s packed resorts.

In fact, you can reach Belize easily by crossing the border from the trendy Mexican town of Chetumal, but Belize is most commonly reached by air and cruise ports.

This Central American country is full of open spaces across stunning beaches and offers gorgeous natural attractions like the famous Blue Hole or sparkling blue waters to lounge in or go snorkeling.

With laid-back vibes and jaw-dropping scenery, you will feel right at home enjoying a blissful getaway.

Beaches are gorgeous across the Caribbean Sea, but many travelers have Ambergris Caye at the top of their Belize wish list.

Others wanting to go inland will love the lush jungles and witnessing historical Mayan ruins well-preserved, yet hidden in plain sight.

Many tour operators will guide you through some of the top sites Belize has to offer, whether by boat or a jungle trek.

Luxe Stays

Belize City, the country’s largest city, does have nice hotels but is not considered the best place to stay. Tourists tend to disperse throughout the rest of the country for more calm, scenic environments.

Along the coast, there are a plethora of luxury resorts, including the highly regarded 4-star Naïa Resort and Spa.

Backtracking inland into the vast jungles is the 5-star Ka’Ana Resort, the perfect place to stay near the Xunantunich ruins site.

There are boujee vacation rentals in some of the most picturesque seaside towns, plus a variety of hostels for travelers on a tight budget.

Recently Issued Travel Advisory

Last month, the United States State Department had enough intel on the security situation in Belize to issue a new travel advisory.

While a majority of the concerns listed were limited to Belize City, travelers should be aware there is an active advisory before booking this new flight.

Belize City, where the airport is located, is seen as the most dangerous city in the country. The State Dept. claims violent crime has seen an uptick not only in Belize City, but has trickled into common tourist areas as well.

Belize City holds a “Level 3: Reconsider Travel” status, while the rest of the country holds “Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution”, which is on par with many other popular vacation destinations frequently visited by U.S. travelers.
