Airplane travel can save a lot of time and take travelers to the most amazing destinations across the globe within hours.

However, not every air travel experience is pleasant, and sometimes your cabin can turn into an absolute nightmare.

From uncomfortable seats to annoying neighbors to unpleasant smells, there are many ways in which an air travel experience can affect your vacations.

And there are constantly new debates related to passengers’ inappropriate behavior and airplane etiquette.

The most recent viral airplane experience shared on Reddit: a couple changing a baby’s stinky diaper on the food tray.

Multiple social media users have reacted and shared their thoughts but, of course, the flight attendants share the wisest words.

Flight attendants have recently shared advice and valuable information across multiple portals, and these are the 7 things you should never do on a plane:

Eating Gas-Inducing Food

Travelers should carefully choose what they will eat before and during the flight.

Each body is different, but air pressure can make passengers’ stomachs more sensitive. Know which products can lead you to an upset stomach.

Having a bloated stomach during a flight can be a very uncomfortable situation, and you could also ruin your neighbor’s travel experience.

Passengers who eat strong-smelling foods are also among the most annoying on flights, according to reports.

And think twice before getting carbonated drinks. A soda or a beer will taste good but can also leave you extra gassy and bloated.

Using Phone On Speaker Mode

Bring your headphones! You should be the only one listening to your Facetime conversation or Instagram video. No one else wants to hear what you are reproducing on your phone, don’t use speaker mode.

Flight attendant Kristie Koerbel shared with the New York Times another advantage of bringing your own headphones: it’s a great strategy to end a conversation with an extra chatty seatmate.

Do you have noise-canceling headphones? Even better! You get to reduce noise and mute crying babies.

Removing Your Shoes And Socks

It’s a classic. There are many videos on social media channels proving that a lot of people remove their shoes and socks on planes. And it might not be a good idea.

Travelers shouldn’t walk without their shoes on the aisle as it is probably dirtier than it looks, and their feet smell will remain trapped in the cabin.

Not Using The Bathroom Properly

Besides changing diapers in the bathroom and not in the seats as the parents in the viral story did, passengers should never forget to flush after using the toilet.

It’s impolite to other passengers, and the odors intensify when the toilet doesn’t remain as clean as possible.

If you don’t see the flush button, take a closer look because it is always there. If you still don’t see it, call a flight attendant or ask for help.

Making People Switch To Worse Seats

Another popular debate in 2023 with a viral TikTok video is about asking people to change seats.

The best strategy to avoid switching seats is to plan ahead and select seats together when flying with another person or in a group.

Travelers who pay for their seats always have priority, and making other passengers change their seats to the worse ones is rude.

Reclining Your Seat… Abruptly

It’s ok to recline your seat, but make sure that you will not spill the drink of the person in the back.

Koerbel mentioned that even laptops had been broken by passengers who slammed back their seats abruptly. And certain cases even led to fistfights.

It only takes a few seconds to take a look and warn the other passenger.

Drinking Tap Water

Flight attendants avoid tap water on planes, and you should too.

Studies have shown that tap water from airplanes from popular and commercial airlines can contain E. coli and coliform.

Always opt for bottled water.
