The season of boos and brews is upon us, and with all the excitement that comes with the fall season comes a fast rush to book the best destination for the most affordable price!
We’ve seen it already: flannel shirts making an appearance, leaves beginning to change, and the site of little pumpkins as people excitedly decorate. Americans love this time of year, but they love a good destination even more.
Although it’s September, it’s still very possible to snag a good deal NOW. If you’re taking a break from the international side of travel, why not find a charming place in the U.S.? We all know we have them, and some are perfect to visit in the fall!
You know what’s even more thrilling than donning your best pair of boots and seasonal jackets? Doing it in the musical capital itself. Nashville welcomes a good boot or two and invites visitors to join in the fall fun that’s happening in the city.
Is It Really Fall Without Oktoberfest?
Over the years, the U.S. has become well-known for its decorative Oktoberfest celebrations throughout the country, and you know where has one of the best? NASHVILLE.
In fact, the highly anticipated event has been the longest-running Southeast party since 1980 – now that’s saying something!
The city’s Germantown transforms into a German village and presents a weekend full of traditional foods, beer, music, and dancing. The event is open to anyone and is the ideal day out for those with families.
This year, the event will be running from October 5-8th, and guests can look forward to a variety of exciting activities from the Daschund Derby to a 5K Race.
Off-Season Prices
We love a good off-season, and luckily for fall travelers, Nashville’s off-season is technically between November and March.. which means affordable prices!!
While there’s so much to do this time of year, most tourists only think to visit in the summer months. You’ll find cheaper hotels, Airbnbs, and flights.
From some cities in the U.S., it’s even possible to find flights under $30 roundtrip! From Boston to Nashville in November, Google Flights is showing some options for under $70.. now that’s a win!
More Festivals and Concerts!
You hear correctly! Nashville goes all out for the fall season, ensuring there’s always something to do for every type of traveler and local.
As well as Oktoberfest, the city is also showcasing free concerts at Centennial Park throughout September – so get there fast! The music city got its name for a reason, and will also be hosting the American Fest between September 19-24th (attracting thousands of artists!)
The Nashville Film Festival (Sep.28-Oct.8) and Brew Festival (Sep. 29th) are also examples of how the city caters to all! These events are open to the public and provide a fun alternative when visiting the music capital.
If you’re lucky (and not festival-ed out), you may even get the chance to visit Nashville’s first-ever public arts festival (Artville) from September 29th through October 1st. It’s free, showcases 20 public art displays, and has entertainment – yes!!
New England Isn’t The Only Place With Foliage
While Broadway Street is lined with musical venues and bars, Nashville is still surprisingly a hot spot for leaf-peeping, with colors changing between late October to early November.
A short drive away or steps from downtown, you’ll definitely get a few leafy sightings on your trip. Of course, if you’re staying a little longer and renting a car, middle Tennessee also has no shortage of fall colors.
Don’t want to venture too far? The area near Vanderbilt University has a green space and plenty of trees where you can witness that pop of color up close!
Music-Loving Fun
Nashville is home to country music and amazing live performances! If you wander up and down Broadway Street, you’ll stumble on a few free concerts.
The city has produced some of the musical stars we know and love today, so this is a must-do if you’re visiting. The fall is a great time for a little song and dance, especially because there aren’t as many crowds – which means more room for a little line dancing to your fave tunes!

Other than great music and fall activities, Nashville has so much to offer all types of travelers! Just strolling around the quaint neighborhoods on the outskirts brings a variety of cool restaurants, themed bars, and quirky things to do.
