You know what’s trendy right now in the tourism world? Solo travel. That’s right! What was once considered ‘strange,’ is now taking the world by storm. With 54% of adults thinking about taking a solo trip this year, it’s time to hop on board and start planning.

A 36% increase from 2022, solo travelers are planning trips throughout the year and are on the hunt for the best spots to visit alone. If you’ve ever toyed with the idea of solo travel, now’s the time to hop on the bandwagon and join in the fun!

Taking the hard work out of decision-making, Planet Cruise recently ranked the world’s best solo hotspots on factors such as friendliness and safety to round up the top 5 winners this year!

Tokyo, Japan

Alright, alright… First things first! “I’m going to get bored solo traveling..” wrong! Tokyo ranked number one as having the most attractions on the list. The buzzing city has 10,000 to be exact, meaning if you’re alone, you really will never be bored!

The Sensoji Temple, Tokyo Skytree, and Ueno Park.. need we say more? If attractions aren’t enough, Tokyo also received the fourth-best safety score at 76, meaning you won’t have to worry about walking around as a solo traveler.

Having traveled to Prague twice myself, I can confidently say I felt incredibly at ease traveling around the city alone. With a vibrant hostel culture, hundreds of other solo travelers, and easy streets to navigate, it’s a solo travelers’ haven.

Prague scored the second highest on Planet Cruises safety index- and for good reason! Proud people through and through, Czechs love to share their culture, language, and food. If you visit any local pub, prepare yourself to leave with a few new friends.
