One Utah city, in particular, saw more than 26.9 million passengers fly in and out of its airport, a number that beats the pre-pandemic high by more than 100,000 and goes to show that travel in the region doesn’t seem to be slowing down despite the plummeting temperatures.
Local airport officials believe that most of this growth can be attributed to the increased number of foreign travelers getting in and out of the city, which has now turned into a proper international hub.
So, why are people visiting Salt Lake City more than ever before?
The Ultimate Winter Getaway
The surge in visitors experienced these past months has been anything but accidental, as Salt Lake City is what many would consider the ultimate winter getaway.
Set against the imposing Wasatch Range and covered with a pristine layer of snow, the Utah capital might as well be the default background for all wintertime postcards, and that’s not even considering the many nearby ski resorts like Alta, Deer Valley, or Park City, just to name a few.
If you’re not big on skiing or snowboarding, you can always go ice skating or snow biking instead, though if you’re feeling particularly adventurous, bobsledding is the way to go.
A Destination For All Types Of Travelers
Winter sports enthusiasts are far from the only people who’ll get to fully enjoy the allure of Salt Lake City.
Here, there’s something for virtually any type of traveler.
Whether you’re a family looking for some kid-friendly fun, a couple wanting to dine against a picturesque backdrop, a group of friends seeking that next outdoor adventure, or a solo traveler in search of some peace and quiet, you’re guaranteed to find something to do in the gorgeous Utah capital.

When I say that Salt Lake City offers something to every visitor that extends to different passions and interests as well – after all, there are so many cultural and historical attractions in the city that you’ll struggle to get through them all.
History buffs will love exploring the Salt Lake Temple and the Tabernacle, while those with a knack for geology or paleontology can marvel at the jaw-dropping displays at the Utah Museum of Natural History.
For a more laid-back sightseeing trip, you can always stroll through the Pioneer Park Farmers Market, explore the trendy Sugar House, or take in the historic charm of The Avenues.
A Haven For Outdoor Enthusiasts
While Salt Lake City’s cultural scene is what many of us would consider an underrated gem, you can’t blame visitors for wanting to experience the breathtaking surrounding nature, either.
The Antelope Island State Park, the Bonneville Salt Flats, as well as the scenic drives through Big Cottonwood Canyon and Little Cottonwood Canyon, are some of the most gorgeous natural sights you’ll find in all of North America.
